A Living Future for Europe.

Living Future Europe Becomes Formal Entity, with Green Building and Market Demand Growing Across the Continent.

Seattle/Bolzano – In December 2019 Ursula von der Leyen, newly-appointed President of the European Commission, said, “I want Europe to become the first climate-neutral continent in the world by 2050… to make this happen, we must take bold steps together…

By the urging of–and overwhelming support from–our volunteer Network and European community, the International Living Future Institute has risen to Ursula von der Leyen’s challenge in Europe and is poised to raise the bar on sustainable development across the continent.

In order to ensure a stronger presence in Europe and an even better connection with the building industry, ILFI has formally established Living Future Europe (LFE), a new legal entity and nonprofit association. LFE’s mission coincides closely to that of ILFI’s: to make the world work for 100 percent of humanity, in the shortest possible time, through spontaneous cooperation without ecological offense or disadvantage to anyone, and catalyzing the transformation toward communities that are socially just, culturally rich, and ecologically restorative.

New Year, new Facilitators.

I nuovi Facilitator del Living Future Italy Collaborative.

(English text follows)

Attualmente esistono 120+ Living Future Collaboratives nel mondo, oltre agli International Affiliates: Australia, Europe, New Zealand, United Arab Emirates. I Collaborative affiancano ILFI nella missione di guidare la trasformazione verso un mondo socialmente giusto, culturalmente ricco ed ecologicamente rigenerativo.

The new Facilitators of the Living Future Italy Collaborative.

Change in the leadership of the Italian Collaborative of the Living Future network. Five years after its foundation, we are pleased to welcome the new Italian Facilitators, Marco Rossato and Matteo Dalla Libera, who after a selection procedure were approved in the new role for the two-year period 2020-2021 by the steering committee of the Italian Collaborative and by the International Living Future Institute.

The Living Future Italy Collaborative (LFIC) is a group of local professional volunteers committed to sustainability, education and implementation of the Living Building Challenge. The LFIC provides a unique in person forum to facilitate change in the built environment. Developed by the International Living Future Institute, LBC is the most progressive sustainability standard in the world. While there are a handful of Living Buildings in the world, the number of teams trying to achieve Living Building Challenge status increase every year.

Collaborative Facilitators are Ambassadors who sign a further two-year agreement by committing to coordinate a local Collaborative.

What a year for Living Future Europe :-)

With the support of our Founding Circle Sponsors, we lead this year the way to creating a Living Future in Europe through the Living Future Europe Initiative.

We launched our Declare Europe label last January. Our volunteer Network hosted more than 50 events in the year that spanned 33 cities in 19 different European countries, around two times the number of events held in 2018! These events reached almost 3,000 leading practitioners looking to build Living Buildings.

Following Ursula von der Leyen, new President of the European Commission’s goal: “I want Europe to become the first climate-neutral continent in the world by 2050… to make this happen, we must take bold steps together.”

Our focus in 2020 will be to educate and assist a broader audience of interested practitioners on how to build Living Building Challenge projects in Europe and help spur demand for healthy, transparent materials and Declare and Living Products.

Thanks to all our incredible LF Ambassadors and Collaboratives across #Europe for your amazing commitment. We are looking forward to working with you in 2020 😉

Thanks to our Sponsors for helping us making this possible. Let’s join forces for an even more brilliant 2020!

Thanks to Amanda Sturgeon, James Connelly, Sunni Wissmer, Miranda Berger for your tireless support, it’s a pleasure working with you and all the colleagues at the International Living Future Institute #timetoactisnow the best is yet to come, cheers and best Season’s Greetings 😊
